How snow removal contracts and pricing work in the Vail Valley
Before you take a bid, it helps to know what you're actually buying. Here's how a seasonal snow contract works on the Edwards–Avon loop — the trigger, what's included, and what's an add-on — in plain English, no fine print.
What a seasonal contract is
A seasonal contract is one price that covers plowing all winter, on a set schedule, whether it snows ten times or forty. You're not calling around during a storm hoping someone shows up — you're already on the route. We write the scope down: what we plow, when the trucks roll, and who your one point of contact is. Season runs November 15 through April 15.
The 3-inch trigger
“Trigger depth” is just the amount of snow that automatically sends us out — no phone call needed. Ours is three inches for most properties, a little less on drive lanes and lots if you want it. We set it with you at the site walk so nobody's debating it at 5 a.m. during a storm.
Two ways to buy snow removal, and why we only do one
Seasonal contract (what we do)
- One price for the whole winter
- You're on the route before the storm
- Budget you can hand your board
- Plow dates on every invoice
- Pay monthly across the season, or the full season up front for a discount
Per-push (why we don't)
- Priced per storm
- You're calling after it snows, and so are twenty other people
- Unpredictable total
- Fine for a one-off, wrong for a property that has to stay open
We work seasonal contracts because that's what keeps you first. One-time clears only if you catch us with room on the route and can pay on the spot.
Plowing is the contract; everything else is a clear add-on
Plowing your lot, drive lanes, and driveway is the contract. Cinders or mag chloride on the icy grades, hand-clearing walks and steps, roof snow, ice-dam work, and hauling the piles off when the lot fills up — those are add-ons, each priced up front and spelled out in your scope. No surprise line items on the January bill.
Why there are no prices on this page
Because a real number comes from your property, not a webpage. A flat lot in Homestead and a switchback driveway in Cordillera aren't the same job. We walk it, we scope it, and we put a written season price in front of you that you can compare line for line against anyone else's.
Tell us about the property.
We reply within one business day with a seasonal price and a proposed scope. Pre-season requests get first spots on the route.
Questions about contracts and pricing
It depends on the property — size, grade, how much walk and drive lane, and which add-ons you want. We price it off a site walk and put a written season number in front of you. What we can tell you here is how it's structured: one seasonal price for plowing, add-ons priced separately and up front.
Yes. Pay monthly across the season, or the full season up front for a discount. Add-ons like haul-off are billed after the work.
Seasonal is one price for the whole winter and puts you on the route before the storm. Per-push is priced per storm and means calling after it snows. We work seasonal because it keeps you first and gives your board a budget it can count on.
A set trigger depth, usually three inches, a little less on drive lanes if you want. We agree on it at the site walk.
